Neem:
- In our "modern" times people hardly have the patience to listen for longer the 10 minutes to anything except themselves. It all about the selfie. Uncle Bach would not like our world. Too fast too furious. We want it all yesterday.
- i must have been listening to this for a 100 times now and it´s still growing on me. i cry nearly every time though i´m not religious..what is it about this piece?? herreweghe and crew bringing it to perfection - This may be my favourite youtube video of all time.
- Herreweghe is by far the best interpretor of Bach in my opinion. Whether it's the Mattheuspassion or a mass or cantatas, Herreweghe always manages to conduct in a way that it feels like you're listening to Bach conducting himself. It's like he feels what Bach felt when he composed this and every other (master)piece. For me, Bach's music is the only music ever written that can make me feel the closest I can get to God, like I'm not on Earth for a while. Transcedental is definitely the right description of his music. Herreweghe surprises me with every single performance of Bach's music, which is the only music in which I can express my personal feelings. My deepest gratitude goes to these two men, for me the most genious people that ever lived, an unseparable duo.
- The conductor looks like Einstein and Beethoven rolled into one person.
