Als je op muziek uit Oekraïne zoekt, kom je niet alleen terecht bij de componist Lev Mykolajovych Kolodub (1930 - 2019), maar ook bij het kwartet DakhaBrakha uit Kiev, dat zichzelf omschrijft als:

Marko Halanevich (vokals, darbuka, tabla, didjeridoo, accordion, trombone), Irina Kovalenko (vokals, djembe, bass drums, accordion, percussion, bugay, zgaleyka, piano), Olena Tsybulska (vokals, bass drums, percussion, garmoshka) en Nina Garenetska (vokals, cello, bass drum) maken ge-wel-di-ge muziek. Een feest om naar te luisteren.
Ze moeten ook al eens in Nederland zijn opgetreden, maar dat is aan mij voorbijgegaan.
Wat is er met de mensheid aan de hand dat er naast zulke hartverwarmende muziek ook (dreiging met) oorlog kan bestaan?
